Gombe FRSC commences special road safety operation week

Gombe State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has announced commitment of a special operation called Road Transport Safety Standardization Scheme enforcement week.

The FRSC, as a lead Agency in Traffic Management and Administration in Nigeria saddled with the responsibility of advising the Government on policies that will ensure the safety of lives and properties on Nigeria’s roads.

Arising from the mandate, the Sector Commander Samson Kaura, assured that the Corps will continue to ensure a safer road across the State.

The Sector Commander, through the Command PEO, SRC Janet Kassa issued a press release on the current operations going on in the State as a means of creating awareness for road users across the State.

The Command is observing the special operation which has already commenced on Monday, 13th ending on Friday 17th July 2026.

The Command stated that, “It is worthy to note that the RTSSS is a Department responsible for the registration and supervision of fleet operators in Nigeria.”

It clarified that the awareness is created to remind fleet operators on the need for continuous recertification and a call on Government and private organizations that operate five or more vehicles to register as fleet operators.

The Command also called on commercial vehicle operators to comply with installation of speed limiting device and make use of the legally approved passenger manifest.

The Command emphasized that the one week operations is targeted towards but not limited to the offences of Passenger manifest violation, Overloading Violation, Dangerous driving violation, Speed limiting device violation, School bus violations, Driver’s license violation, Non registration to RTSSS, Failure to fix certification sticker, Underage driving violation, Unlatched containers, Tyre violation and other traffic violation offences.

There will also be mobile court sitting within the period and random drug/alcohol test on drivers of fleet operators who are suspected to be driving under the influence of intoxicating substance, it emphasized.

The Sector Commander therefore commended the State Governor, Alhaji Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, Dan Majen Gombe for his commitment to infrastructural development in the State.

He appealed to the people of Gombe State to be law abiding, give maximum cooperation to the patrol operatives on the road and make Gombe State a Jewel in the savannah.
