Nigeria delivered a commanding performance to defeat Algeria 2–0, booking a well-deserved place in the AFCON 2025 semi-finals.
Victor Osimhen once again proved his talismanic value, opening the scoring in the 47th minute with a powerful header after a brilliant cross from Bruno Onyemachi. It was a goal that set the tone for Nigeria’s dominance in the second half.
Just ten minutes later, the Super Eagles struck again. Akor Adams showed composure and confidence as he dribbled past the Algerian goalkeeper before calmly tapping into an empty net in the 57th minute. The goal was set up by a superb assist from Victor Osimhen, with Alex Iwobi providing the intelligent pre-assist in the build-up.
From start to finish, Nigeria were in control — pressing aggressively, creating chances, and limiting Algeria to very little. On another day, the scoreline could have been even more emphatic.
With this victory, Nigeria now set up a mouth-watering semi-final clash against hosts Morocco on 14th January at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
