Niger Senator, Peter Jiya Resigns from PDP

The Senator representing Niger South Senatorial District in the National Assembly,Abuja, Senator Peter Ndalikali Jiya, has formally resigned his membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a resignation letter dated March 10, 2026, and addressed to the PDP Chairman of Edokota Ward in Gbako Local Government Area of Niger State, the lawmaker cited “many troubles within the party” as the reason for his decision to leave.
Despite his departure, Jiya expressed gratitude to the party for the opportunities it provided him to serve the nation and humanity.
He also appreciated ward, local government, and state party officials for their support and loyalty over the years.
The senator noted that his experience as a member and flag bearer of the party remains memorable, while appealing for understanding and continued goodwill from his supporters as he moves forward politically.
