The FatI Lami Abubakar Institute for Legal and Administrative Studies (FLAILAS), Kpakungu, Minna, Niger State, on Thursday, February 19, 2026, formally matriculated 608 newly admitted students in a landmark ceremony that underscored discipline, academic focus, and institutional growth.
The event, held at the Mass Communication Auditorium, was historic as the matriculating students represent the first set admitted through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
Addressing the gathering, the Provost of FLAILAS, Dr. Amina Fatima Usman Kutigi, congratulated the students on their successful admission and urged them to remain steadfast in their academic pursuits.
She cautioned them against social vices and criminal activities, stressing that discipline and dedication were essential to their success.
“You are fortunate to be among those selected from a large pool of applicants, while many others could not secure admission due to financial constraints or failure to pass their WAEC or NECO examinations,” Dr. Kutigi noted.
The Provost further warned against indecent dressing, emphasizing that the Institute would not condone any act of indiscipline. She particularly advised Muslim female students to adhere to the institution’s guidelines by wearing the hijab.
Dr. Kutigi expressed gratitude to Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, for his unwavering support, especially in facilitating the accreditation of ten courses by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) within one year.
She also commended the staff, management, and the State Ministry of Tertiary Education for their contributions to the Institute’s progress.
In his goodwill message, the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Professor Mohamed Yakubu Auna, applauded the management for achieving NBTE accreditation in record time. He assured that the state government would continue to support FLAILAS in fulfilling its mandate.
Professor Auna congratulated the students, reminding them that the oath of matriculation officially makes them full members of the academic community.
He acknowledged the financial challenges facing tertiary institutions but pledged that the Ministry would ensure timely release of capital allocations to enable the Institute meet its obligations.
The highlight of the ceremony was the administration of the matriculation oath by Senior Magistrate Barrister Nasiru Attahiru, an alumnus of the Institute who graduated in 2022..
